Son cargos del hospital por el código CPT 72148 (Resonancia de columna lumbar (espalda baja) sin contraste). El archivo de precios de un hospital cubre los cargos del propio hospital. Los médicos que no son empleados del hospital —en estudios de imagen, normalmente el radiólogo que lee el estudio— pueden facturarle aparte, y otros servicios del mismo día (contraste, una inyección, una consulta) tienen sus propios códigos.
Cómo pedir un precio más bajo si no tiene seguro
Pida al hospital una estimación de buena fe (Good Faith Estimate). Si no tiene seguro o no lo va a usar, la ley federal le da derecho a recibir una estimación por escrito cuando la pida, y automáticamente si programa el servicio con al menos tres días hábiles de anticipación (CMS: No Surprises Act).
Pregunte si el hospital tiene un descuento para personas sin seguro o un programa de ayuda financiera, y cómo solicitarlo.
Compare con un centro de imagen o un laboratorio independiente: no están incluidos en la norma de transparencia de los hospitales y muchas veces cobran menos en efectivo.
